Top 10 Ways to Make Friends as an Adult

Top 10 Ways to Make Friends as an Adult

A feeling I’ve heard about lately is that it’s harder to make friends as an adult. In fact, there’s an interesting book where the writer shared her perspective and experiences in consciously trying to make new close friends as an adult in a new city. I’ve been so lucky in my adult life in the friendship department. It hasn’t always been that way- I can remember times in my life when I felt like I didn’t have anyone to make plans with for the coming weekend or who I could call to just hang out after work. Even though I’ve lived in the same metropolitan area for the most part of 2 decades, things change. I haven’t had the same core set of friends for the last 20 years because people’s tastes and interests change, family situations and relationships evolve, people move, schedules switch- it’s probably only the really true (or consistently convenient) friendships that can stand the test of time. But for the past few years, I’ve really enjoyed my friendships- both old and new. I really feel like the friends I have now are my true (not just convenient) friends and we will be friends for years! I love Meet Up because everyone’s there for the same reason- to meet up around a common purpose, hobby, topic or whatever. The first...
Hi. I am ADD for DIY. What does that mean? I crave starting new projects. I see projects that I like, and before I finish them, or sometimes even start them, I’m on to another idea or plan. What causes these constant changes of direction? Sometimes I psych myself out of something before I even start with thoughts like I could never get it that perfect or I’m not that talented other times, I start the project then realize I underestimated the amount of time or attention to detail it would take to achieve the standards I want. And sometimes, I really do just get bored or distracted and move on to something else. So, this website is about my journey of improvement. Improving my own skills (and hopefully yours), improving my completion rate by having someone to show my stuff to, improving “things” in order to make them more aesthetically pleasing and creating opportunities for all of us to look back and see how far we’ve come. I’m all about DIY and re-fashioning. I love aesthetic entertaining and I’m recommitting myself to “going for it!” If I want to make it, have it, try it… I will! Are you a curious, DIY beginner like me? Are you creative, upbeat, chic yet still frugal? Then this site is for you! Check out my favorite recent projects!
