Impromptu Drinks n’ Snacks

Impromptu Drinks n’ Snacks

I’m a planner. I’m a list-maker. I like to forecast how things will go in advance. I may take this a little to the extreme when I plan a party or event for my friends or family. What can I say.. once I get started, I can’t stop! I like to incorporate a theme down to the detail! Once, we had an April Fool’s Day brunch and I collected all sorts of hats and various costume pieces people could put on when they arrived – so we had a some women with thick black mustaches (which also work as unibrows), a man with bunny ears, a full sleeve tattoos on a non-tattooed person and some safari hunters.  I carefully arranged large plastic insects around the food serving area as an April Fool’s Day prank. At a blue themed party, I researched for days to figure out what kind of blue signature drink we could serve for the evening. Needless to say, I revel in the preparations. That can be a double edged sword though. If I hold myself to a certain standard, I really limit myself to how often I can entertain if I want to budget enough time and money for an event. This is a great low-pressure way to get a group of friends together for the main purpose of getting a group of friends together. There is no theme, or should I say,: the theme is: snacks and drinks! Hi. I am ADD for DIY. What does that mean? I crave starting new projects. I see projects that I like, and before I finish them, or sometimes even start them, I’m on to another idea or plan. What causes these constant changes of direction? Sometimes I psych myself out of something before I even start with thoughts like I could never get it that perfect or I’m not that talented other times, I start the project then realize I underestimated the amount of time or attention to detail it would take to achieve the standards I want. And sometimes, I really do just get bored or distracted and move on to something else. So, this website is about my journey of improvement. Improving my own skills (and hopefully yours), improving my completion rate by having someone to show my stuff to, improving “things” in order to make them more aesthetically pleasing and creating opportunities for all of us to look back and see how far we’ve come. I’m all about DIY and re-fashioning. I love aesthetic entertaining and I’m recommitting myself to “going for it!” If I want to make it, have it, try it… I will! Are you a curious, DIY beginner like me? Are you creative, upbeat, chic yet still frugal? Then this site is for you! Check out my favorite recent projects!
